SciMan 23

Simposio en Materiales Avanzados y Nanotecnología

SCiMAN is an anual symposium organized by the Centro de Investigación en Ciencia e Ingeniería de Materiales (CICIMA), or the Materials Science and Engineering Research Center, belonging to the Universidad de Costa Rica. It represents an effort to provide to the local and regional scientific and engineering community a place to share results obtained from the research activity in materials science and engineering as well as nanotechnology. Most of the presenters are scientists, engineers and students belonging to local universities or laboratories, although international speakers are also invited to attend. The topics usually covered by past symposia were, among others, hot topics like soft condensed matter, biomaterials, composites, nanostructured semiconductors, polymers, ferroelectrics, and graphene. Besides local public universities (Universidad de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica), speakers from other international institutions are invited to give state-of-the-art lectures in different topics.

Call for Abstracts

The call for abstracts is now OPEN. Please check the following important dates:

  • Call for Abstracts opening: Friday, September 01, 2023.
  • Time period to submit an abstract for ORAL or POSTER presentation: Friday, September 01, 2023 to Friday, November 24, 2023 (11:59 pm, Costa Rica time.)
  • SCiMAN scheduled period: Monday, December 11 to Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Please follow the steps provided below:

  1. Go to the following page to register your name as contributor (researcher or student):

  2. Go to the Downloads tab in this page and download the abstract template for your contribution (Oral or Poster).
  3. Prepare your abstract following the instructions written in the templates. You can use an example abstract provided in the Downloads tab as a guide. Note that only ONE presenter per abstract will be allowed.
  4. The abstract should be addressed to the following email:
    SCIMAN.CICIMA@ucr.ac.cr

Abstracts that do not have the requested file format asked in the templates instructions will not be accepted.
